Freedoms for Pets
Make a difference By Ryan
My endangered animal is an Orangutans
You can make a difference
There are only 7,500 left in the world
They eat fruit- 60%, leaves-25%, bark and flowers 10% and insects 5%
You can make a difference
- People are cutting down trees so Orangutans have lots of habitat loss. If you see someone cutting a tree in the forest say: Stop dont cut down trees.
- People are illegally hunting and 20,000 orangutans are killed every ten years
Make a Difference Moses
My endangered animal is a Red Panda
Red Pandas are endangered because people keep on cutting down trees to make houses and that’s why Red Pandas are now endangered animals. Red Pandas eat fruits like apple, bamboo and insects.
Red Pandas need the 5 freedom and these are the five freedom.
Please don’t kill Red Pandas because how would you feel if you liked your pet dog and somebody killed it, that will be very, very sad.
We should take care of Red Pandas by taking them to the vet and looking after them and by not cutting down trees. That means that you are not making a difference about your future. So that’s why we need to make a difference about our future and help those endangered animals around the world. Or there will be no more Red Pandas left in the world. We need to take action now!

My Endangered Animal Snow Leopard
Snow Leopards live in Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Russia and Mongolia. Snow leopards habitat is cold high mountains. Snow leopards eat sheep, goats and horses.
What can we do to make a difference?
Stop Killing Snow Leopards. Please stop killing Snow Leopards because there are only 4,500 to 7,500 Snow Leopards left.
We can help these Snow Leopards by giving them the five freedoms.
- Freedom from hunger and thirst
- Freedom from discomfort
- Freedom from pain and injury
- Freedom from fear and distress
- Freedom to express normal behaviour
Another way we can help these Snow Leopards is by fundraising money. The S.P.C.A can help Snow Leopards. S.P.C.A stands for Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Black Rhino
Black Rhinos habitats are deserts and grasslands and they live in Namibia, coastal East Africa. Black Rhino’s are getting critically endangered because humans are killing them to get their horns. They put these horns on display and it’s very expensive. I strongly believe we should take care of black Rhinos and keep them away from large wild cats and hunters or pouches.
Adult males weigh 1,350 kg and adult female weigh 900 kg the weight at birth is 35 to 45 kg. Black Rhinos are 1.6m at the shoulder they are also smaller than white Rhinos. Black Rhinos only have hair on their ears, tail tips and eyelashes. Males have thicker horns than female they often have longer horns and thinner ones. Black Rhinos got their name by their lip not their colour. They have their baby by two and a half years and they also often have one baby at a time. Black Rhinos eat leaves, fruit and grass they can live without food for five days. Did you know less than 2,500 black Rhinos are left? Black Rhinos eat 120 pounds of grass a day.
How can we make a difference!
Please stop killing black Rhinos! We have to stop hunting for black Rhinos. We can help black Rhinos from being killed by keeping them in zoos and stop cutting trees because they eat the leaves.

Fun Fact: Black Rhinos have whiskers
Our Zoo Trip!
On Thursday the 18th of May, we went to Auckland Zoo to learn more about animals and how we can make a difference to their well-being.
Five Animal Freedoms
This Term we are learning about Making A Difference.
All animals have needs in order to live healthy happy lives, just like us. Everyone has a responsibility to care for the health and wellbeing of animals.
What actions can we take to make a difference to the wellbeing of animals.
This week D2 has been learning about the five freedoms.
Icing Biscuits
D2 helped design the icing biscuits stall at the school gala. We did lots of planning and designing. Most of our Maths this term was about finding how much butter, icing sugar, sprinkles and biscuits we needed and what it would cost. We had a few practise runs to see how we might ice biscuits at the gala. Here is a video of our experiments.
